Lift Photography Community Cultural Value Lost

Community photography "Over Eyes" an exhibition titled "Perception Alon-Alon" at Bentara Budaya Yogyakarta, 24 to 30 July 2010, to lift the diverse traditions and values began to disappear from the public culture of Yogyakarta.

"Alon-Alon perception means losing slowly. That is, a lot of cultural value in Yogyakarta, which is slowly becoming obsolete society, without them realizing. In fact, Yogyakarta is a city of culture," said chairman of the committee for this exhibition, Haryo Sastomo True, in Yogyakarta , Sunday.

He said the traditions and values began to disappear from Yogyakarta in them are a number of traditional games, srandul, kuda lumping, as well as cultural values are not objects.

"For example, kuda lumping who used to be a sacred dance, but now it is played on the fringes of the street for money," he said.

Another example, according to Microsoft Word, can be seen from the tendency of children today who prefer to play "Play Station", and they rarely come together with their peers, so that tends individual. "This is not good for the mental development of children," he said.

According to him, this exhibition aims to remind people that cultural values are still there, although it does not match the changing times.

He said the exhibition was also a mild scolding to the people of Yogyakarta which gradually changed into a society that individual.

In this exhibition displayed 15 photographs by 14 photographers, 10 of whom are photographers of the Community "Over Eye."

Four other photographers are photographers or photographers who already have a name in Yogyakarta, namely Himawan, Edial Rusli, Pamungkas, and Henry H Prabowo.
