RI stage play "Perempuan Gerabah" performed in Gdansk

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A stage play titled "Perempuan Gerabah" (Earthenware Women) performed by members of the Indonesian Studio Theater (TSI) was able to enchant spectators at the 14th International Street & Open Air Theater Festival (FETA) in Reduty Wilk, Gdansk, from July 15-18.

The 75-minute play involved actors, stage decorators and earthenware maker Rasmi Bt Maskad. In the play, Rasmi demonstrates ways to make simple and small earthenwares to the audience.

"Perempuan Gerabah which is about human life that falls apart, is full of paradoxes, problems and ironies. These phenomena inspired us to write and present this play," Nandang Aradea, TSI`s art director who also directed the play, said.

Nandang explained the earthenware in the play was an analogy of the world where humans try so hard to build something, celebrate their success but, in the end, destroy it.

The 14th International Street & Open Air Theater Festival FETA was participated in by a number of countries, namely Indonesia, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Russia, Poland, Holland and Denmark. (*)
